
Mission Statement
The Department of Public Law is one of the four Departments of the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLPS) and aligns itself completely with the vision and mission of the Faculty of Law. Since the establishment of Faculty of Law, Public Law has been an effective department in the Faculty.

The vision of the department is to promote quality research, teaching, seminar and the propagation of knowledge in the area of Public Law as well as wider appreciation and dissemination of its importance to the general public. In addition to ensuring quality provision of education in subjects falling within the broad area of “Public Law” (such as Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Human Rights Law, Public International Law etc), the Department focuses in particular on development of research skills both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition to this, the Department’s mission in teaching is to deliver graduates that will be professionally versed in the demands of the many fields of legal practice, including the demands for lifelong scholarship and responsible citizenship. Still in relation to research, the department strives to contribute towards the development of the legal science consonant within the demands of the constantly transforming national and international environment.
Furthermore, of more pivotal to the mission of the Department is the fact that, the department seeks to provide dynamic intellectual community dedicated to teaching and learning, research and service in the pursuit of law and justice as its students incorporate their legal training in the preparation for the practice of law, judicial service and other leadership position in Cameroon in particular, and the world at large. Members of the Department are fully engaged at Faculty and institutional levels, and also make significant contributions in their interactions with broader society, nationally and internationally. As a matter of fact, the department is inextricably guided by the values contained in the Cameroon Constitution.
